ASFI's Third Annual Conference
The Post Communist Era: Challenges and Opportunities
On May 11-12, 2009, the Association for the Study of Free Institution's held its third annual conference. Entitled "The Post-Communist Era: Challenges and Opportunities," the conference commemorated the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and was co-sponsored and generously supported by Princeton University's James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions. The keynote address for the conference was delivered by Professor Richard Pipes of Harvard University, who was also the recipient of ASFI's inaugural award for distinguished scholarship on the nature of the free society.
